Message	it is not a universal thing. I have installed more sets of downpipes than I have fingers and toes. None of them that I know of are having any smoking issues. Again, I think it comes down to more of a turbo seal condition question moreso than back pressure. If the turbos are not cooled properly after driving, if oil is not changed at regular intervals, etc, etc, then they will be more suseptable to the seals failing when all of a sudden there is a lack of backpressure.
